“Having App for a Day involved in the Passage West Lidl Ladies Football Blitz was a great experience. Celine and the team took the time to understand our event and what would be most useful for our teams, families and volunteers.
The App for a Day platform was incredibly adaptable and could facilitate numerous changes that happened both before and after the app launched. It was also great at spotting errors and worked to create the best possible version of the app for a Blitz of this size, with hundreds of teams and a huge number of fixtures that could change, sometimes even on the day of the tournament.
The support didn't stop once the app was launched. Celine and her team worked with us throughout the weekend and helped us manage and maintain the feed section, keeping information updated while the Blitz was happening. Having a partner so responsive and willing to work through issues with us was extremely important during such a busy event.
Their dedication, patience and kind approach played a huge part in making the Blitz App a success. The app became a really helpful way for teams, families and volunteers to keep up with fixtures and important information throughout the weekend.

The event
What began in 2008 as a few parents organising something fun for their daughters has grown into the biggest ladies' football blitz in Ireland. In September 2026, 259 teams from 83 clubs took part across three age divisions (U8, U10 and U12), backed by around 160 volunteers and, since 2025, Lidl Ireland as main sponsor.

The challenge
Running 518 games across multiple pitches over two days, with families travelling in from other counties, brought the usual “what pitch, what time” chaos that paper schedules and WhatsApp threads struggle to keep up with.
The App
The app ran alongside the traditional printed schedules, not instead of them. Fixtures was by far the most-used tab, giving players, coaches and families a live schedule for all 518 games across the weekend. A My Schedule view let each team follow just their own games, while Teams and Info tabs carried team and event details. A live Feed carried updates throughout the two days.
